The most widley used pluked string instrument is the tar The face of the tar is a
sheepskin memberane in two separate sections, the lower one about one-half times larger
than the upper. The bridge supporting the strings is attached directly to the lower

How to play Taar
The tar is plucked with a small metal plectrum inserted into a wax ball held between the
thumb and index finger.There are two strokes with this plectrum, the downstroke is called
rast(right), the upstroke,chap(left).
